Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system is the unsung hero of health. It is our first line of defense at the same time as it helps to nourish our tissues. A clogged or overworked lymphatic system can lead to compromised immunity, fatigue, achy joints, headaches, poor sleep, and more. Lymphatic drainage massage is designed to support the lymphatic system. Many clients find the session to be deeply relaxing and can bring the nervous system into a parasympathetic (rest and digest) state. Lymphatic massage helps by increasing lymph flow. Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) techniques are employed to stimulate the lymph nodes and further support the lymph fluid to flow. The lymphatic system does not have a pump like the the circulatory system, and relies upon muscle movement, deep breathing, and assisted hands on techniques to keep the flow going.

When skillfully applied, this therapeutic form of soft-tissue mobilization dramatically enhances lymph formation and promotes drainage within the superficial and deep systems of the lymph vascular network. MLD effectively reduces traumatic and post-surgical edema, and can provide symptomatic relief of migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), stress, fatigue, and more. MLD also induces general relaxation and detoxification.
